The nation-wide state aid programme called European Funds for the Modern Economy 2021–2027 (FENG) encompasses the SMART path – businesses may apply for attractive subsidies on research and development as well as implementation of its results into business.

Who stands the chance for subsidies?

Subsidies are granted for projects implemented in Poland. The SMART path offers funding for comprehensive projects that may include maximum 7 thematic modules, including mandatory research and development (R&D) or implementation of innovation resulting from R&D work in business.

Every subsidised project may additionally include optional modules concerning:

  • construction or expansion of R&D infrastructure;
  • product promotion on foreign markets;
  • industrial property protection;
  • development of staff competencies;
  • green and digital business transition.

The modules may be interlinked or may be implemented independently.

This year’s round of calls includes:

  • general R&D projects;
  • projects limited to accessibility, that is, those that address problems of people with special needs by removing e.g. physical barriers (in buildings, equipment) as well as barriers in digital reality, IT and telecommunications systems, products, services, processes, or that satisfy special needs of such individuals.
