New grants and loans to improve energy efficiency and to develop RES in businesses

A new opportunity has opened up to obtain grants or partially forgivable loans for green projects of enterprises.


Funding applications may be submitted in two programmes run by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management from 23 August to 12 December 2024.


Improvement of energy efficiency (including installation of RES infrastructure)​


The programme objective is to improve conditions for Poland's growth by building sustainable technical and social infrastructure. The applications will be processed in a competitive bidding process with the budget of 101 million zloty. The funding will be in the form of partially forgivable soft loans from EU programmes and loans from the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.


Medium-sized enterprises may apply for aid for:

– capital expenditures on upgrading company buildings, improvement of energy efficiency of manufacturing processes, conveyor systems and heat recovery from industrial processes. Funding may also cover installation of a RES system including energy storage and systems for production, storage and transport of renewable hydrogen.


As regards the improvement of energy efficiency of company buildings, the minimum required primary energy savings is 30%, taking account of the scope of undertaking (except historical buildings). As regards the improvement of energy efficiency of technological lines and processes, the minimum required primary energy savings is 10%, taking account of the scope of undertaking.


RES Development – biomethane and biogas


The “RES Development" programme offers businesses an opportunity to apply for funding of construction and modernisation of biomethane production facilities and cogeneration biogas production facilities including energy storage. Funding will also cover connection of the system to the gas and power grid. Programme funding will not be available to biomass gasification plants.


The funding will be in the form of grants and soft loans from EU programmes and loans from the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management. In total, a beneficiary may receive up to 50 million zloty for biogas projects and 40 million zloty for biomethane projects.


The programme has a total budget of more than 376 million euro.
