An M&A deal may be divided into three stages. Stage 1 (Pre-Deal) to prepare and structure the transaction. Stage 2 (Deal) includes negotiation, implementation and transaction closing. Stage 3 (Post-Close) focuses on integrating the acquired business with the buyer’s corporate group and utilising the synergy. All three stages are interdependent. Consequently, a successful deal requires concerted coordination, organisation and negotiation at all three stages.​
