Subsidies for zero-emission heavy goods vehicles

The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (Polish: NFOŚiGW) is currently calling for applications for funding in the form of subsidies to support the purchase or lease of zero-emission vehicles of categories N2 and N3.

Its main objective is to reduce emissions and improve air quality by supporting companies that choose to purchase or lease new zero-emission heavy goods vehicles (electric or hydrogen-cell driven).

Object of the aid

The call for proposals is for the purchase and lease of zero-emission vans and trucks of categories N2 and N3 which use only electricity in externally-charged batteries, electricity generated from hydrogen in fuel cells installed on-board, or an engine whose duty cycle does not lead to greenhouse gas emissions.

The call’s budget is up to 2 billion zloty, with funding available in the form of a purchase subsidy or, if the vehicle is to be leased, a subsidy on the initial lease payment.

Programme beneficiaries

The programme targets enterprises that have their registered office or branch in Poland.
The aid intensity depends on the size of the enterprise and the form in which a vehicle is acquired.

Upon the purchase or lease of a zero-emission vehicle, the aid is
  • up to 30% in the case of large enterprises
  • up to 50% in the case of medium-sized enterprises
  • up to 60% in the case of micro and small enterprises

-  of eligible costs less the cost of the reference investment, no more than:
  • 400,000 zloty per category N2 zero-emission vehicle and no more than the initial payment (lease);
  • 750,000 zloty per category N3 zero-emission vehicle and no more than the initial payment (lease).

The programme to subsidise the purchase or lease of zero-emission heavy goods vehicles (N2 and N3) is a real opportunity for companies to modernise their fleets with significant financial support. Enterprises can obtain up to several hundred thousand zloty in subsidies per vehicle, and the call for applications is ongoing. This is a good time to combine ecology with cost optimisation and to prepare for future transport regulations.
